Diane has served as the Executive Director of The Schenectady Day Nursery since 1989. Diane grew up in the village of Ravena, south of Albany, where she still resides today. Diane is a graduate of the College of St. Rose, earning a degree in Elementary Education/Mathematics. She continued graduate studies in Health Education at Russell Sage College, in Troy. Upon graduation, Diane taught seventh grade Math in the Hudson City School District for several years. While there, she yearned to make a greater impact on helping younger children build a solid educational foundation. As an educator she knew she could make a huge difference in shaping children’s minds, as most children will learn all they need to know by the age of five. That yearning brought Diane to SDN, where she has served as Director for the last 35 years. Diane is highly respected in her field. She has formed collaborations with Capital District Beginnings to provide early childhood special needs services in an integrated classroom setting and has formed a collaboration with the Schenectady City School District, as one of two, community- based organizations chosen to offer UP3 and Universal Pre-K programs to serve District families. Most recently, under Diane’s leadership, The Schenectady Day Nursery, earned QUALITYstarsNY highest 5-star rating. Diane truly loves what she does. Her goal is to make sure every child has a positive experience and leaves SDN with a “love” for learning. The smiles, the hugs and the greeting from the children makes it all worthwhile.
